Message from our Director, Mary O'Mahoney

Here at the Student Recreation Center we are looking forward to and making plans to re-open the facility. However, it will be up to the Chancellor’s Office and the CSUB upper administration that will make the call to allow us to do so. As always, the safety of our participants and staff is our priority. We are working on a reopen plan based on the California Department of Public Health guidelines for facilities like the SRC.  We are investing in new technology that will include a new CSUB SRC app. This app will allow us to create a reservation system and contactless entry to the facility. We are also working on de-densifying the rec and moving some equipment into the gym to allow for more distance between the equipment and revising cleaning schedules. We are also developing new training for our staff on new policies and procedures as things will be very different when we open. But we also want to make sure we provide you with a quality experience while following safety guidelines. Finally, the other obstacle we face is securing and maintaining adequate cleaning supplies.  We are actively working on all these things so if and when we get the ok from the chancellor’s office we will be ready to go. I don’t know what our chances are but we remain positive and hopeful. We will also be providing an expanded variety of robust, engaging and most importantly, community building virtual activities come fall to assist you in staying active and healthy.

It is important to remember the significance of the physical activity, emotional health, nutrition, sleep, and mental well-being. As information and changes occur, we hope you stay active and continue with your exercise routine.
