California Residency for Tuition Purposes

Find information about how California residency is determined, how to file an appeal if you're classified as a nonresident, exceptions and exemptions, and more. You can review the CSU California State University webpage or the Admissions Residency webpage to view requirements and documents.

Registration Holds

It Is Important That You Work to Clear Any Holds Proactively, As Failure to Do so Will Result in A Delay in Registering. Some of These Holds Require Processing Time and Can Take Up to 72 Hours to Be Released.

  • Advising hold (includes Graduation Advising Hold) - make an appointment to see your major advisor www.csub.edu/advising 
  • Immunization hold - submit appropriate documents showing proof of required vaccinations to https://www.csub.edu/vaccines. Learn more about the required immunizations here: https://www.csub.edu/vaccines.
  • COVID 19 hold - submit proof of vaccination or a request for exemption to: https://www.csub.edu/vaccines 
  • Student Financial Services hold - pay off your balance by clicking the "Make a Payment" button in your myCSUB account. For questions contact sfs@csub.edu.
  • Title 9 hold - Complete the required training by clicking the link to the training website, accessible after clicking the “details” button. For more information click the following link: https://www.csub.edu/equity-inclusion-compliance/title-ix 

Add/Drop A Course

Students Are Able to Add/Drop/Swap Classes. Please Ensure You Are Selecting the Form for the Correct Term. Completing the Wrong Form Will Delay the Registration Process.

Please view the guidelines here to add/drop or withdraw from term.

  • To Add a class (up through the Last Day to Add), log in to myCSUB and follow instructions to Add Classes.
  • To Add a class (after the Last Day to Add), complete the Add/Drop form for the appropriate term above.
  • To Drop a class (up through Census Day), log in to myCSUB and follow instructions to Drop a Class.
  • To Drop a class, complete the Add/Drop form for the appropriate term above.
  • To Withdraw from the term, complete the Term Withdrawal Form above.

Additional Information

You will have the choice to pay by credit or with debit card, bank account (using your bank account routing number and checking account number), New 529 Savings plan, or International Payment.

The international payment is Flywire.

Note: There is a 2.65% courtesy fee for paying with a credit or debit card online. This can be avoided by paying online with an electronic check or paying with cash or check at the cashier's Office.

Graduation

Upon completion of university and program requirements, you may apply online for graduation. To confirm all requirements are met please review your program requirements with your Graduate Program Director/Academic Advisor.

Commencement

You will be required to submit an application for graduation within two semesters of completing all remaining graduation requirements prior registering for Commencement.
