First-Year Mentoring Program:
The Excel Scholars First-Year Mentoring Program at CSUB aims to support the successful transition and holistic development of first-year men of color students.
Through this program, students are paired with dedicated CSUB faculty or staff members who will provide guidance and support to help them achieve their educational, professional, and personal goals. The program empowers students to thrive academically, professionally, and socially by creating positive relationships and fostering a sense of belonging.
Program participants receive:
- One-on-one professional mentors
- Tailored career and professional development
- Exclusive networking and professional development event access
- Informational gatherings each month to aid social development.
- Free access to conferences.
- Provide you with useful information regarding campus and community resources.
The program's outcomes include:
- Increasing awareness and utilization of campus support services
- Enhancing understanding of CSUB's infrastructure
- Establishing a strong support network
- Aiding students in navigating college successfully and advocating for themselves.
