What Group Fit classes are offered?

Campus Recreation and Wellbeing offers a variety of Group Fit classes to target your exercise needs. Classes focus on cardiorespiratory fitness, strength, endurance, flexibility and relaxation, dance, and more. Our schedule is updated each semester as a way to vary our class times and offerings. If there is a specific class you would like to see, please leave a comment in our suggestion box!

When are Group Fit classes held?

Group Fit classes are conveniently offered throughout the week, currently Monday-Friday. Please take a look at our current schedule for a complete listing of classes offered.

Where are the Group Fit classes located?

The Group Fit classes are located throughout our facility in our group exercise rooms including the Sequoia, Mojave, Yosemite, and Sierra Studio. The Group Fit schedule will designate where the class will take place in the SRC.

Generally, most of our classes are held in the Sequoia Studio (1st floor), with the exception of cycling classes which take place in the Mojave Studio (2nd floor).

Who is allowed to take a Group Fit class?

Any SRC member is able to take a Group Fit class. Simply, show up! If you would like to earn university credit, then you must sign up online through myCSUB for the courses. Visit the Department of Kinesiology website for more information.

Can I arrive to a class late?

We ask that all participants show up 5 minutes before class to ensure a space is available and to set up exercise equipment. As a courtesy to other participants and our instructors, and for safety purposes, we discourage entry later than 15 minutes past the class start time.

Is there a cost to take a Group Fit class?

No. Group Fit classes are free to valid SRC members.

Do I have to sign up prior to the Group Fit class?

No. Just show up in proper attire, including moveable clothing and sneakers. If you would like to earn credit for a class labeled KINE, you can do so by signing up online through myCSUB.

How do I become a Group Fit instructor?

In partnership with the Kinesiology Department, KINE 3130: Leadership and Teaching of Group Fitness, is an elective, no-prequisite course, offered during the spring semester to any major. This class teaches topics including exercise physiology, leadership and public speaking skills, fitness programming, and music selection. If you are interested in becoming an instructor, but unable to register for this course, the SRC offers a Learn to Teach Group Fit program to mentor students on the same topics. Please contact Leah Bank (Lbank@csub.edu) with questions.
