Featured Speaker: Ane Carla Rovetta

The MST conference includes a special group of Featured Speakers and Performers this year.  Each of our speakers combine Math, Technolgy, or Science with the Arts in a unique way.

AnnaCrovettaAne Carla Rovetta is probably the most appreciated presenter ever to come to the MST.  She combines her love and knowledge of nature with her artistic abilities to help us all appreciate and understand nature as well as our own artistic talents more.  This year's theme immediately brought Ane Carla to our minds, and we are very glad she agreed to come back with a brand new assortment of presentations. Here are descriptions of the sessions Ane Carla will be leading.  Also, she has agreed to be our featured speaker during a lunch session.

Presentation #1:  Through Eyes of a Naturalist: Folklore, Facts and Fancy about Birds

Come to let your imagination run away with you as you watch Ane Rovetta weave legends and science together in the animated presentation on our feathered cousins.  Ane was a field assistant for the Point Reyes Bird Observatory where she gained a first hand knowledge of birds and their ecology.  She mixes this appreciation with her stunning drawings and lively humor to give you an avian hour you'll not forget.

Presentation #2: Incredible Cattails

Cat-tails, (Typha sp.) are well-adapted, widespread and versatile native marsh plants.  In this workshop Ane Carla will demonstrate how to weave the long leaves into rope.  Come listen to stories, food recipes and harvesting tips for this ultimate ethnobotanic delight.   For all ages!
