GET Bus Pass FAQ

Take a look at frequently asked questions about CSUB's distribution of the free GET bus passes.

DO I NEED TO SHOW MY CSUB ID WHEN USING MY FREE BUS PASS?

Yes, you will be asked to show your physical CSUB ID card (aka your RunnerCard) along with your bus pass each time you ride the GET bus.

If you have misplaced your RunnerCard, click here to request a new one.

HOW OFTEN CAN I USE MY BUS PASS?

The pass is for students’ unlimited use during the January 1 to May 31 period.

CAN I GET A REPLACEMENT IF I LOSE MY PASS?

If pass is lost, students may come back for a replacement.

CAN I GET FREE RIDERSHIP FOR MY CHILDREN/SIBLINGS?

Up to 3 children aged 0-5 may ride free accompanying each pass-holder (or regular fee-paying adult).

Free Bus Passes are also available for all Kindergarten to College/University and Vocational Students in the Bakersfield area. Please encourage them to get their pass at their school site; CSUB only distributes the one for our site.

IS THE PASS AVAILABLE TO CSUB STAFF/FACULTY?

Unfortunately, this grant only covers students of local K-12, higher education, and vocational schools. CSUB Staff, Faculty, and Aramark personnel may purchase 50% off monthly bus passes at the CSUB Cashier’s Office and must have work ID card at the time of purchase.

DOES THIS PASS PROVIDE FREE GET-RYDE TRANSPORTATION?

No, this is for the regular bus line, but we encourage you to use GET Ryde for low-cost and on-demand trips.

IS THE FREE BUS ONLY TO GO TO SCHOOL?

No, you may use GET’s service to get to and from school, work, the mall, a friend’s house, or anywhere the bus can take you.

WHAT IF I DON’T THINK I WILL USE MY PASS?

You are not taking an opportunity from anyone else by accepting a pass. We have enough to fill the demand. Please consider taking one and using it when and if you want to!!

Other questions may be forwarded to sustainability@csub.edu.
