Lauer Lab

Our research focuses on different projects in environmental microbiology using a variety of molecular and culture-based techniques that involve undergraduate and graduate students. Current ongoing projects, as well as completed projects are described below.

Research in Our Lab

My students and I are pursuing different projects in microbial ecology, microbial diversity, and microbial symbiosis. Learn more about our research.

  1. Detection and characterization of Coccidioides immitis growth sites in California
  2. Coccidioidomycosis in pinnipeds
  3. Diversity and function of microorganisms in desert soils
  4. Diversity of microcrustaceans in ponds and lakes of the Southern San Joaquin Valley, California
  5. Cutaneous antifungal microbiota of amphibians
  6. Diversity of bacterial associates of Watersipora subtorquata, a highly invasive bryozoan species worldwide
