Bio:

Dr. Ankita Agarwal is an Assistant Professor and teaches Strategic Management and Human Resource Management for the College of Business and Public Administration at California State University, Bakersfield. She received her Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2020. Prior to coming to the US, she earned a Ph.D. and an MBA in Human Resource Management in India. Her professional experience includes four years of teaching as a lecturer and four years of corporate experience as an HR Generalist. Her main research interests include shareholder activism, gender diversity, corporate governance, and internationalization. She recently published a paper on cross-border mergers and acquisitions in International Business Review journal. She has also presented her research at international level conferences, including the Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Academy of International Business. Dr. Agarwal is a member of the Academy of Management and Southern Management Association and has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for International Journal of Bank Marketing and proceedings for conferences such as the Academy of Management. Dr. Agarwal has received the Best Paper Award at the Academy of Management (2019) in the International Management division and Distinguished Ph.D. Student Publication Award (University of Texas at Arlington).

Bio:

Hossein Bidgoli, Ph.D., is professor of Management Information Systems at California State University. Dr. Bidgoli helped set up the first PC lab in the United States and served as its first director. He is the author of 49 textbooks, 27 manuals, and over five dozen technical articles and papers on various aspects of computer applications, information systems, network security, e-commerce, and decision support systems published and presented throughout the world. Dr. Bidgoli also serves as the editor-in-chief of The Handbook of Technology Management, The Handbook of Computer Networks, The Handbook of Information Security, The Internet Encyclopedia, and The Encyclopedia of Information Systems. The Encyclopedia of Information Systems was the recipient of one of the Library Journal’s Best Reference Sources for 2002 and The Internet Encyclopedia was recipient of one of the PSP Awards (Professional and Scholarly Publishing), 2004. Dr. Bidgoli was selected as the California State University, Bakersfield’s 2001- 2002 Professor of the Year. Also he was the recipient of 2015-2016, Faculty Scholarship and Creative Activity Award (Researcher of The Year). Dr. Bidgoli’s areas of interest include MIS Design, IS Security, Cybersecurity, Technology and Innovation Management, and the impacts of technology on society. Bio:

Dr. Jiatian (JT) Chen is an Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management at California State University, Bakersfield. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of Kansas and a Master’s degree in Labor and Human Resources from The Ohio State University. His current research includes organizational climates, career calling, and work meaningfulness.

Bio:

Professor Yong Suk Choi is a Professor of Management and Marketing department in the College of Business and Public Administration. Professor Choi received his MBA from the Ohio State University and Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Professor Choi’s teaching interests include Introductory MIS, Database System, E-Commerce, and Systems Analysis & Design. His primary research interests are Knowledge Management in MIS perspective, Geography Information Systems in Business, and Sustainability of MIS. In his free time, he practices golf and explores foreign countries.

Bio:

Dr. Mansik Hur is an Associate Professor of Management at the California State University, Bakersfield. Prior to joining the CSUB faculty in August 2017, Dr. Hur was a career military officer in the Republic of Korea Air Force. He earned his Ph.D. in Management from the University of Alabama and taught as an adjunct instructor prior to coming to CSUB. He also holds an MS in Logistics Management from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology and a BS in Linguistics from the Korea Air Force Academy. His teaching and research interests are in logistics and supply chain management, inventory management, performance-based contracting. During his military careers, Dr. Hur has been involved in major acquisition programs of the Air Force and has won many awards for his management and leadership efforts. He was also competitively selected for a Korean Air Force scholarship to pursue his doctorate education. After serving the Korea Air Force for 24 years, he retired as a rank of Lieutenant Colonel and joined the CSUB to develop new career in academia by sharing his knowledge, experience and expertise with students and faculty.

Bio:

Dr. David E. Olson teaches strategic management and international management for the College of Business and Public Administration at California State University, Bakersfield. He received his Ph.D. and a M.S. both in Management from the University of Arizona. Other academic training includes an MBA in Finance from the University of Washington, a BA in Economics and Business from Westmont College, and post-graduate coursework in Religious Studies and Ethics from Oxford University. Dr. Olson also served as an asset/liability manager and as an assistant branch manager during his 10 years as a practitioner within the banking sector and was a circus performer for several years prior to this. His research interests are centered on governance and decision-making and he is a champion for the internationalization of the CSUB campus in all ways possible.

Bio:

Atieh received her PhD from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She holds a BS in Computer Engineering-Software and a M.SC in industrial engineering-System Management and Productivity. Her professional experience includes three years in the field of computer science including database design and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Her main research interests are artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), data analytics, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). She is interested in the effect of such technologies on users’ behavior. Her research has been published on Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Consumer Satisfaction, Dissatisfaction and Complaining Behavior and Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research. She also has presented her research in the AMA, AMS and SMA. She also has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for several journals and conferences including Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, International Journal of Retail and Distribution, American Marketing Association, Academy of Marketing Science and Society for Marketing Advances.

Bio:

Dr. Sumita Sarma received her PhD in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in May 2018 from the University of Missouri Kansas City. She simultaneously completed a two-year Certificate Program in College and University-level teaching from UMKC. Dr. Sarma completed her Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunications in India, where she was a University topper and a gold medalist. She completed her Master’s in Project and Program Management and Business Development from France. Dr. Sarma has lived and worked in three countries – USA, France, and India, and has rich industrial work experience in multi-functional roles. Her main teaching and research interests include entrepreneurship and innovation, and strategic management. Dr. Sarma has published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Business Horizons, Entrepreneurship Research Journal, and Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics on areas of firm-level strategies, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and entrepreneurship. She has presented several of her research papers at international-level conferences such as the Academy of Management, Babson Conference, Sustainability Ethics and Entrepreneurship, and USASBE. Dr. Sarma is a member of the Academy of Management and has served as ad-hoc reviewer for multiple journals such as Research Policy, Journal of Small Business Management, Asian Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics, Asian Journal of Management Science and Applications, and proceedings for conferences such as Academy of Management, and USASBE.

Bio:

Graduated from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo in 1968; majored in Business Administration with concentrations in Industrial Relations and Psychology, and Master of Public Administration at CSUB. He has earned the distinction of Senior Professional in Human Resources from the Human Resources Certification Institute and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). Also, Tom successfully completed the “Mediating the Litigated Case” program offered by Pepperdine University School of Law, Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. He is a listed mediator for the Kern County Superior Court. SHRM selected Tom to participate as a taskforce member to develop “Measures and Metrics Standards” that an effective HR organization should capture. Tom is a full time Lecturer of Human Resources at California State University, Bakersfield, CA. He has over forty years of experience in the Human Resource field (Shell Oil, Williams Brothers Engineering, and California Production Service), is a Lecturer and the instructor for the Human Resources Certificate program at CSUB, and was on the American Arbitration Association’s Panel of Labor Arbitrators. Also, he has served on the Miscellaneous Personnel Civil Service Commission for the City of Bakersfield as a commissioner. As a Management Consultant, Tom’s “mission” is to help companies develop their strategic business plan and weave human capital and quality processes throughout that plan. He specializes in helping Family Owned Businesses.

Bio:

Dr. Pratigya Sigdyal received her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from University of North Texas. She hails from Nepal, where she was a lecturer before joining the Ph.D. program. Sigdyal’s research focuses on mindfulness, positive work relationships, and human attention in organization. She is currently teaching two courses at CSUB; Business and Society, and Organizational Behavior.

Bio

Dr. John B. Stark is in his twenty-second year of service as both an administrator and as a faculty member at California State University, Bakersfield. He has served in various campus leadership positions, including Chair of the Academic Senate and several Senate Committees, as Director of the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership, as Department Chair of Management & Marketing, as Associate Dean of the School of Business & Public Administration, and twice as Interim Dean for the School. Stark entered academia after sixteen years of practical experience in small and medium-sized organizations, in both the private and public sectors. After receiving his PhD in Business Administration from the University of Missouri at Columbia, his primary areas of instruction have been organizational behavior, small business management, and managerial skills. He has taught in undergraduate, masters, and EdD programs, earning the rank of tenured Professor of Management along the way. His research is in the development of trust, conflict resolution, and pedagogy, and he serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Management Education. Stark is also a consultant for area organizations in strategic planning and the development of managerial skills.

Bio:

Zhenning (Jimmy) Xu is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at California State University, Bakersfield (2019–present). Previously he was an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Southern Maine (2016– 2019). His research interests include digital marketing, marketing analytics, research computing, text analytics, and sentiment analysis. He has extensive experience dealing with various marketing problems using data analytics and machine learning with R, Python, Tableau, DataRobot, Stata, SAS, Google Data Studio, and SPSS. He held administrative positions for about 7 years before pursuing a doctorate in Business. He earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Texas at El Paso, a Data Science Specialization (9-course certificate) from Johns Hopkins University (Online), an MBA, and a Bachelor’s in Business Statistics. He was the recipient of the 2020 Literati Award Winner for Highly Commended Papers in the Qualitative Market Research. He was also the recipient of the Dodson research grant, the Mike Loya research scholarship, and several other grants. As of 2020, he has published over 15 peer-reviewed papers including the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of Marketing Analytics, the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, the Journal of Macromarketing, Qualitative Market Research, an International Journal, Emerging Markets Finance, and Trade, the American Marketing Association (AMS) conference proceedings, the AMS conference proceedings, the INFORMS conference proceedings, the DSI conference proceedings, the IEEE conference proceedings, and the ACM conference proceedings. He has also served on the program committee of quite a few international conferences.
