Transfer Student: I've Been Admitted

You're A New Roadrunner... What's Next?

Congratulations on your provisional offer of admission to CSU Bakersfield! Your first task after being admitted should be to celebrate as we had a very academically competitive applicant pool this year. So, go ahead, high-five that teacher or counselor who helped you, call a family member to tell them the good news, and celebrate on your social media using the hashtag #CSUBBound #RowdySaidYes.  You deserve a moment of celebration for this accomplishment.

Follow these important Next Steps to prepare for your first term at CSU Bakersfield.

Failure to adhere to deadlines may result in your offer of admissions being withdrawn and/or canceled.

STEP 1: ATTEND FUTURE RUNNER DAY (FALL APPLICANTS ONLY)

Future 'Runner Day is by invitation only and open to all newly admitted Fall students and their families to explore the campus, meet our faculty, staff, & students, and experience ‘Runner Pride.

Find out more and RSVP for our event by visiting our website https://www.csub.edu/futurerunnerday. Go 'Runners!

STEP 2: SUBMIT INTENT TO ENROLL

All admitted students must reserve their seat in the incoming class by submitting a $100 non-refundable Intent to Enroll by May 1st for fall admissions, and November 15th for spring admission. You may submit your Intent to Enroll via the link on your To Do List in your myCSUB portal.

The enrollment deposit may be waived for students receiving state or federal need-based grants or full financial assistance, complete the Intent to Enroll task via the myCSUB portal to see if you qualify.

STEP 3: SET UP YOUR CSUB EMAIL

Once you submit your Intent to Enroll at CSUB, an Office 365 account will automatically be created for you unless you were a prior student, then your account will be activated once again.

Office 365 is our official email and calendaring system. Office 365 offers you an enhanced experience and allows you to seamlessly access your email account on a variety of platforms – desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile devices.

If you have any questions, concerns, or issues with Office 365, please email the Service Center at servicecenter@csub.edu.

STEP 4: SET UP DUO TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION

When you access certain CSU Bakersfield services, you will be required to provide an additional layer of security to your account by using Duo.

Why Duo?  Every day passwords are guessed, hacked or stolen by email phishing attacks. When this happens the safety of our private data is put at risk. 2Step Verification for your CSUB account adds a second layer of security and keeps your account protected--even if your password is compromised.

Setup your account and learn more about Duo.

STEP 5: SUBMIT INITIAL TRANSCRIPTS

CSUB's initial offer of admissions is provisional and based upon self-reported information provided on the admissions application. Those who are offered provisional admission will need to submit the following documents to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions no later than close of business on February 17th for Fall and September 30th for Spring:

  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • Official test scores from AP (Advanced Placement) exams, IB (International Baccalaureate) exams, or CLEP (College Level Examination Program) exams if needed for admission. We are unable to take the score from your college transcripts.
  • If you are a U.S. Veteran or active duty service member, a copy of your DD214 is needed or a letter from your commanding officer if you do not meet general admissions requirements.
  • Check myCSUB.edu portal on a weekly basis, any needed documents will be posted to your To Do List and it is your responsibility to submit these documents by the posted deadline.

Please note: Electronic delivery is the preferred delivery method. Verify with your school if an electronic transcript is available. Electronic transcripts can be provided through external or third-party vendors (Credential Solutions, eTranscriptCA, National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, E-Scrip Safe and etc.). When ordering your transcript, choose California State University Bakersfield as the intended recipient from the school name dropdown. If California State University Bakersfield is not listed, please use incomingtranscripts@csub.edu as the recipient email address.

If you select to mail your transcript, please ensure the transcript is in an envelope sealed by your school and addressed to:

CSU Bakersfield
Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Records, 47SA
9001 Stockdale Highway

IMPORTANT: If, after validation and verification you do not meet eligibility, your offer of admission may be rescinded and courses enrolled in canceled.

STEP 6: PREPARE YOUR FINANCES

We encourage you to file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible.  The FAFSA is used to award federal grants, loans, work-study and certain scholarships. For the estimated cost of attendance at CSUB, visit the Cost of Attendance webpage, and select the appropriate academic year.

Students who submit their FAFSA early may be able to view their financial aid award letter beginning in March, which gives you plenty of time to decide whether or not to accept your offer of admission.

Search and apply for departmental and private scholarships through Roadrunner Scholarship Universe between January 1 - March 1.

CSUB's federal school code is 007993.

Contact our Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships for any financial aid-related questions at 661-654-3036.

STEP 7: APPLY FOR HOUSING

Although not required for incoming transfer students, living on campus is a popular option for both new and continuing students. Students interested in living on campus will need to complete your University Residence Hall contract online with your housing advance payment.  For more information or to apply visit CSUB Student Housing & Residence Life.

STEP 8: REGISTER FOR NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
