Wellness

Self-care is important to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself, as it produces
positive feelings and boosts your confidence and self-esteem. Also, self-care is necessary
to remind yourself and others that you and your needs are important too.
Self-care can include treating yourself to something enjoyable, such a good meal, coveted item, or a fun or relaxing activity. Your defintion of self-care depends on you! A good nap, book, or even taking a walk are other examples. Self-care does NOT require money.
Don't put if off for the next weekend, Christmas holidays or the zomibie apocalypse. Start today and be regular. It won't take long before you begin to see the difference!
Believe in yourself and surround yourself with positive people.
Set goals and focus on your strengths.
Turn failures into success - when something does not go well, try to learn from the experience.
Ask for help, guidance, and advice from someone who has encountered a failure and overcame it.
Remember, mental health is just as important as physical health! Seek counseling proactively!

Study Habits
Taking notes helps you pay attention and get the most out of your classes.
Start a new page for each day and class. At the top of the page, write the name of the class, date, page number, and the topic of your notes.
While the information is still fresh in your mind, take a few minutes to go over your notes. Rewrite anything that’s confusing, fill in missing information, and highlight the most important information.
Look for logical connections. To remember that Homer wrote The Odyssey, just think, “Homer is an odd name.”
When you have something to memorize, concentrate on learning it, take a break, and then go back and review it. Keep reviewing until you know it.
To be successful in any class, you need to do the following: Have a positive attitude, do all the work that’s assigned, be focused, and participate.
To reduce test anxiety, study enough and study early so you feel confident that you know the material. Remember, cramming only increases test anxiety.
If you get stuck on a difficult question, make a mark next to the question and come back to it later.
Mentally practice going through a test. Visualize yourself taking the test, answering the questions correctly, and getting the grade you want.

Time Management

With good time management, you have less stress and more free time. You will also
feel more in control of your life.
Use a weekly schedule – write down all your classes, appointments, meal times, etc. You will then be able to see when you have blocks of time for homework and studying.
Set aside time to relax. It is important to take time and recharge.
Make a to-do list and rank your tasks in order of importance (e.g. 1-5), (1) being the most important and (5) being the least important.
Look for chunks of time during the day that are wasted and think about how you can use those times more effectively.
It doesn’t have to always be school or work-related! Schedule small chunks of time for social media, TV, video games, and other enjoyable activities.
