Since 2000, the CSUB College Assistance Migrant Program has been funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Migrant Education to provide services to migrant identified students who enter the university as freshmen. The design of the program is to assist first-time migrant identified freshmen to successfully complete their first year at the University. The focus is to address the educational and social transition issues of first generation migrant college students. CAMP provides students with an array of student supportive services in the areas of:

  1. Opportunity to participate in the Summer Residential Program
  2. Receive individual Academic Advising
  3. Attend Tutoring Sessions
  4. Participate in Scholarship and Internship workshops
  5. Obtain Financial Assistance
  6. Gain Skills in Leadership Development
  7. Utilize Campus Student Supportive Services

All of the program services are designed to enhance the opportunity for migrant and seasonal farm worker students to succeed in their pursuit of a higher education.

CAMP’s Mission is to help students succeed. CAMP staff possesses professional experience in the field of education and is well versed on the academic needs of the identified migrant student. The key is to provide a safety net for migrant students to ensure their success at CSU Bakersfield.
