Environmental wellness

Environmental wellness

Environmental wellness inspires us to live a lifestyle that is respectful of our surroundings and promotes interaction with nature and your personal environment.

Tips and Highlights

  • Find a recycling bin or trash can to properly discard finished or unusable objects
  • Choose to ride a bike for fun, or as transportation, one day a week
  • Help conserve earth's natural resources like water, air, minerals, and the forest.

Campus Beautification

  • The purpose of the Campus Beautification Committee is to beautify the CSUB campus through education and example with the prideful participation from the University community.

Edible Garden

  • The mission of the CSUB Edible Garden is to increase the campus community's food security rate and provide educational opportunities that emphasize student learning by researching, developing, and advancing sustainable foods. The CSUB Edible Garden will be strategically positioned to provide opportunities for students and community members to learn about food systems and grow sustainable foods at the CSU Bakersfield Campus.

Runner Ride

  • Runner Ride is a free bike share program available to all CSUB students and employees with a valid CSUB ID. This program provides bikes availability to users on a daily basis and is ideal for short distance trips around CSUB and the community.

  • CSU Bakersfield and other state institutions are major consumers of energy and natural resources. For this reason, it is important for the campus community to take tangible steps to enhance its environmental sustainability. The university has been committed to reducing its carbon footprint, most notably by building all-new campus construction to the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Silver standard or equivalent and only purchasing Energy-Star certified appliances.
