How much is Training?

Training is offered in packages of 3, 6, and 12-session packages for students and non-students.

Package pricing available here.

How long is Training?

Each session of Personal Training will meet for 60 minutes. Participants may work collaboratively with their trainer to decide on the frequency of training. Participants may use more than one session per week, if trainer availability allows.

What will I do during Training?

Your initial training session will start with reviewing your Health History Questionnaire and Exercise History. After the pre-test assessment, you will discuss your personal fitness goals with the trainer and he/she will set up a workout plan tailored to you. Throughout the remainder of your sessions, the trainer will work with the client to develop increased fitness ability, familiarity with working out, self-confidence in the gym environment, and discuss short term and long term fitness goals. At the end of your session your trainer will conduct a post-test in order to determine the progress you have made throughout the semester.

How do I choose a Trainer?

After registering for a training package, you will fill out a Client Availability sheet and Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q). Using this information, SRC staff will pair you with a trainer either by request and/or availability. The Fitness and Wellness Coordinator and Student Manager for Fitness will make every effort to pair with a requested staff, but there are no guarantees, due to availability.

How do I sign up for Training?

Personal Trainers will be seated near the front entrance of the SRC at the start of the semester with information regarding Personal Training package options. Trainers will also offer educational information about the benefits of exercise, value of fitness assessments, and why scheduling sessions with a trainer has positive benefits for achieving health and fitness goals.

Personal training packages may be purchased through the SRC Front Desk using cash or credit card. After purchase, the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator or Student Manager of Fitness will be in contact to pair you with a Personal Trainer on staff. Following this, communication will occur directly with the Trainer to set up the initial session and schedule dates/times for subsequent sessions.

Note: You must have a valid membership to purchase any personal training packages.

When are the Trainers at the SRC?

Trainers set up their own schedules, Monday-Friday; therefore, availability varies. When filling out the Client Availability form, please list as many options as possibly that you are available to come in for training. Staff will make every effort to accommodate your requests.

How many people are permitted to train during each session?

There are two options for the number of clients permitted to train during a session. The Personal Training packages are meant to accommodate 1 client:1 trainer. This will allow for our trainers to work one-on-one with a client to help them meet their individual fitness needs. Buddy Training packages can accommodate up to 2 people during one session.

See the “Small Group Training” tab about our SGT Program, which combines the individualized instruction of Personal Training with a community atmosphere of up to 6 clients during a session. Please note there is no charge for the SGT sessions.

What Certifications do the trainers have?

The SRC’s Personal Trainers have passed and earned a certification from an accredited organization including ACE, NASM, ACSM, AFAA, or NSCA. Additionally, the trainers participate in professional development opportunities, earning continuing education credits, to maintain their certifications and to stay up-to-date with fitness trends and research.

Can a Trainer help me lose weight or gain muscle?

Yes, a Trainer can help you reach a variety of your health-related goals, including weight gain/loss, increased cardiorespiratory fitness, greater muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and more.

Can I sign up to train for the entire semester?

Depending on the type of package purchased, you will be able to utilize those sessions as determined and scheduled with the trainer. If you wish to continue training after your sessions have been redeemed, you may purchase a new Personal Training package and be re-paired with the same trainer, if requested.
