Welcome to the School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering! We proudly
serve local communities by providing unique educational pathways to develop students
into professionals in STEM and health care careers. In the 2022-2023 academic year, 357 NSME students successfully completed their degree and crossed the stage during commencement. Many
of our graduates have started contributing to the local industry, hospitals, schools
and organizations, and some are moving forward to pursue advanced degrees. We cannot
wait to see the impact that our graduates will make in the years to come! NSME offers a distinguished student experience by integrating education, research,
innovation and community engagement. Many NSME faculty are award-winning educators,
well-recognized scholars, and highly accomplished professionals. With great passion
to inspire the next generation, our faculty has continuously brought research or experiential
learning opportunities as well as external resources to support students. We are also
expanding our partnership with industry in local areas and beyond, as well as with
national labs and organizations so more students can benefit from internships, field
practice, summer research and study-abroad programs. It is exciting to see NSME students
became interns at the Smithsonian Museum, Lawrence Livermore National Lab and Lawrence
Berkeley National Lab. Deeply rooted in the region, NSME will continue to deepen the collaboration with the
local community to develop talents to empower our region’s economy and enhance the
well-being of those who live and work here. In the upcoming year, we will launch the
NSME Strategic Planning process to reimagine the future of our beloved school with
our students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and community partners. We invite
all our stakeholders to engage in this exciting process to co-create a collective
vision for NSME! NSME, the future starts here. Dr. Jianyu (Jane) Dong Dean of the School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and EngineeringDean's Message
