'Runner Family Weekend

'Runner Family Weekend is a campus-wide celebration that will ensure first-time freshmen and transfer students make a successful transition to California State University, Bakersfield. All new students and their families are encouraged to attend the free events, participate in fun activities, join clubs, meet new friends, explore the campus, and experience what it's like to be a part of the CSUB family.

Whether you are moving into Student Housing or just ready to get connected, we hope you and your families will join us for a weekend filled with free events to celebrate and welcome you as a new student! These events are scheduled the weekend before Fall term.

New Student Convocation Pinning Ceremony

New Student Convocation is a formal ceremony for incoming CSUB students (freshmen and transfer students) and their families. Just as Commencement (Graduation) celebrates the completion of students' academic journey, Convocation commemorates its beginning.

The New Student Convocation Pinning Ceremony will create an opportunity for students and parents to be officially recognized and welcomed into the CSUB community. You will hear from our University President, faculty, staff, and student leaders as they convey the importance of students' educational endeavors and CSUB's commitment to supporting you in the achievement of your goals — both inside and outside the classroom.

Services for Students with Disabilities

If you or your guests have a physical or mental disability and need accommodations to access the New Student Convocation, please contact the Center for Accessibility and Essential Needs at 661-654-3360 (phone), 661-654-6288 (TDD), or email caen@csub.edu. Information regarding specific accommodations can be obtained by contacting the Center for Accessibility and Essential Needs. Sign language interpreters are available by request.
