CSUB Geology Students and Faculty Attend GSA Connects 2024

One of the most important Earth Science meetings every year is run by the Geological Society of America. This year's GSA meeting was in Anaheim, CA, so CSUB Geology turned out in force. Students presented posters about their research on mine tailings and their experiences working at the Smithsonian Institution; they attended field trips run by GSA; and they served as the main face of the department at the CSUB booth (thanks to them and Cecily for doing a great job!).

CSUB Geology professors gave talks about their research on caprock characterization using the X-Ray synchrotron at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, novel teaching approaches with generative AI, and whether the San Andreas fault exists in northern California. We even had Dr. Herman lead a short course on the thermal effects of mountain building, which Dr. Krugh attended.

Check out photos from CSUB attending GSA 2024 below!
