Admissions to the Educational Administration Program

Applications for the Fall 2024 cohort accepted starting October 1, 2023.

Applications are reviewed on the 30th of each month starting October 30th, 2023 and continuing until June 30th, 2024.

To apply to the Educational Administration Program, candidates must submit a CSUB Admission Application through the CalState Apply website:

Cal State Apply serves as your portal to applying to CSUB and the Educational Administration (EDAD) program. Please complete and submit your application in Cal State Apply. Cal State Apply is your application to the university. You must also apply to the Educational Administration program.  At the end of your Cal State Apply application process, you will be directed back to this page. Please complete and submit the following to apply to the Educational Administration program.

All applicants to the Educational Administration program will apply to the university as a Graduate applicant for the Masters program. Those students interested in pursuing only the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential will have their plans of study modified after admission.

The following items are to be combined into one pdf file with the following file name: Applicant's Last Name. Applicant's First Name. 2024. pdf. For example, Szolowicz.Michael.2024.pdf. The one file is to be submitted through the EDAD Submittal Portal. The EDAD Submittal Portal is a secure portal.   1. A current resume.

  2. Personal statement responding to the following prompt: Please explain why you want to complete the Educational Administration Program. Describe your motivations and relevant leadership experience (in less than two pages).

  3. Copy of valid Prerequisite Teaching Credential from the CTC— (detailed copy)

  4. Verification of five (5) years of experience from current and/or previous employing district/local education agency. Applicants with four (4) years of verified experience will be considered so long as they are fully employed as an educator during the academic year in which they complete the EDAD program.  Thus, these applicants will have the minimum of five (5) years of experience upon completion of the program.   5. Evidence of meeting the Basic Skills Requirement
    Please review CSUB guidelines here: CSUB Basic Skills Guidelines. Applicants seeking to meet Basic Skills through coursework may do so by completing the Basic Skills Verification Form. 

  6. Complete the Release of Liability.

  7. Verification of tuberculosis (TB) screening from a clinic or employer.

  8. Applicants must fill out the Credential Service Request.  In addition, the applicant must pay the non-refundable $30 Credential Services Fee required for all credential programs at CSUB.  This fee can be paid online via myCSUB, upon admission. Directions on how to pay are here.

  9. Confirmation email from Cal State Apply demonstrating that you have submitted your Cal State Apply application. 

  10. Unofficial transcripts from all prior undergraduate and graduate coursework with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Note that official transcripts must be sent to the CSUB Admissions office per directions provided in Cal State Apply.

    In addition to the one pdf file, submit two recommendations from your field administrators including your current principal or other immediate administrative supervisor. The recommendations must be completed on the program recommendation form accessed by clicking here: CSUB EDAD Recommendation Form. Applicants should complete the top portion of the EDAD Recommendation Form and send the electronic document to their recommenders. Recommenders are to complete the EDAD Recommendation Form, sign the form electronically, and submit (upload) the form directly to the following Box folder: 

Applications are reviewed on the 30th of each month and qualified candidates are invited to an interview with EDAD program faculty to determine program acceptance. Final admissions decisions are then made by California State University, Bakersfield Admissions Office.

CSUB requires that you carry professional liability insurance during your field experience. The cost is $20 for the whole year. Professional liability insurance may be purchased online via myCSUB upon admission. Applicants who are admitted to the EDAD program must purchase this insurance prior to the start of the fall semester. Directions on how to pay here.
