Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen
The Fine Arts Merit Award Scholarship program was established in 2003 to reward graduates of Kern County High Schools who have exceptional achievements in the arts. FAMAS (pronounced famous) students receive $1,000 in the first year, and then, pending successful grades and participation, can receive $1,100 in the second year, $1,300 in the third year, and $1,600 in the fourth year. Often there are matching funds available to add an additional $1000 per year.
Students must first apply for admission to CSUB. FAMAS applications are generally due in early March. Auditions/portfolio reviews are held on the CSUB campus following the application deadline.
For more information and to confirm that the FAMAS is being offered in a particular year, contact Lori Lowrimore in the Arts and Humanities Dean’s Office at (661) 654-2213 or the Theatre Department Office at (661) 654-3093.
The Theatre Department’s scholarship fund, "Ham & Wry," is sometimes awarded to promising incoming freshmen. To arrange an audition and interview for this scholarship, please contact the Theatre Department Chair at (661) 654-2240 or email@example.com
