Theatre for Young Audiences

Dedicated to bringing theatre to young audiences, the CSUB Theatre Program has been presenting plays geared for the elementary school-aged child for over thirty years. Early exposure to theatre helps develop children's imaginations, introduces them to the world of theatre and dramatic literature, and plants the seed for future involvement in the arts either as participants or audience members.

Every year, a play for young audiences is produced at CSUB. Several public performances of the play are given on the CSUB campus and the show tours to a number of local elementary schools as well as libraries and community centers. For information on campus performance dates, check out our latest Theatre for Young Audiences show listed in the current season.

How to Book A Show at Your School or Organization

For information about booking a performance on the tour schedule, contact the Theatre for Young Audiences director Amy Ressler at (661) 654-2362.

Want to Participate?

For CSUB student actors, the Theatre for Young Audiences program provides an opportunity to perform in a variety of school venues over several months and become familiar with touring a show—an excellent learning experience. It is especially recommended for students interested in teaching, Theatre for Youth, or acting professionally.

Students register and get credit for being in the production (THTR 2420/4420). The show performs on campus and goes on tour and is seen by thousands of children. For information about auditions, contact Amy Ressler at (661) 654-2362.

There are also opportunities for students in stage management and set design.

Check out our past Theatre for Young Audiences productions.
