Promotional Item Update
From James Burger, Director of Marketing and Communications
Good morning CSUB,
I am happy to announce several important changes to the way the CSUB provides print and promotional services to campus. These changes will take effect on July 1, 2026 and are designed to strengthen the CSUB brand, increase the consistency of products delivered to our campus clients and coordinate all campus graphic design work as we move forward as Kern County’s University.
The Print Shop will continue to be the primary source of printing, print production and other related copy services on campus under its new name, ITS – Print Services. Public hours for the Print Services team will be from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays starting on July 1.
Promotional work will transition to the Marketing and Communications team in University
Advancement. Graphic designer Maylanie Winton will bring her considerable talents
to bear in helping translate CSUB’s story into visual reality and promote the university
and its brand as part of the Marketing and Communications team.
This move will result in two important changes:
- All graphic design work done by MarComm staff will be free of charge to on-campus organizations provided there is capacity to complete the work in the time requested. All requests for graphic design work, starting July 1, 2026, should be made through the Marketing and Communications project request form which can be found on the Marketing and Communications website.
- Secondly, graphic design services will be provided solely to on-campus clients and
university-centered projects. Requests for graphic design work by off-campus clients
or by on-campus individuals for private, non-university projects will no longer be
accepted.
Please continue to visit www.csub.edu/reprographics to order print materials. Promotional items can be ordered by heading to www.csub.edu/marcomm and clicking on the associated links.
All printing and promotional work on campus will continue to be required – by California State University policy – to be completed through ITS-Print Services and the Marketing and Communications promotional item team. Visit the policy page for details of this requirement.
Some tips when ordering promotional products:
- Please submit orders at least two weeks prior to the date they are needed. Three to four weeks is preferred to allow time for design and delivery.
- Large or rush orders will be supported only when there is capacity to complete the work in a professional manner.
- You may continue to request a waiver to allow you to use an outside vendor, in the event that there is not capacity to support your order. You can request the waiver by emailing promo@csub.edu.
- Please note - all vendors who use CSUB branding and visual identity marks in any product must – by contract - be licensed by the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC).
- If you need assistance in getting a vendor approved through CLC or have questions about the promotional item process, please email promo@csub.edu.
