Sankofa Scholars

Sisters Achieving Nobility, Knowledge, Opportunity, Freedom & Access

The Sankofa Scholars Program is open to all students but specifically designed to address African American female students' retention, graduation, and success at CSU Bakersfield. The overall goal is to provide students with the resources and tools to aid them in achieving their academic objectives.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in a CSUB 1029 (first-year seminar) course, receive mentorship and academic support, and engage in social activities facilitated by Black faculty and staff, community leaders, and other members of the CSUB Community.

The Sankofa Scholars Program at CSU Bakersfield is an inclusive initiative designed to enhance the retention, graduation, and success of students, with a special focus on African-Ancestry female students. Our mission is to equip students with the essential resources and tools to help them achieve their academic goals.
