Concurrent Enrollment Program
The CSUB STEM Pathway Program provides motivated, talented STEM students the opportunity to take one college level course per semester at a deeply discounted tuition rates while still at your local community college. Students who are currently enrolled in a declared STEM major at Bakersfield College or Taft Colleges that aligns with the CSUB School of Natural Science, Mathematics and Engineering majors and programs. Students looking to enter the Nursing program are not eligible.
Local Community College STEM students may enroll without formal admission and without payment of additional State University fees, in a maximum of one course per academic term at California State University, Bakersfield on a space available basis at the discretion of the appropriate campus authorities.
Eligibility Requirements
A student may qualify for concurrent enrollment if he or she has met all of the following requirements:
- Completed at least one term at the home campus as a matriculated student
- Enrolled in a minimum of nine units at the home campus for the current term
- Earned a grade point average of 2.3 (grade of C) for all transferable work completed
- Paid appropriate tuition and fees at home campus for the current term
- Completed appropriate academic preparation as determined by CSUB
- A California resident
Enrollment Conditions
- Enrollment is limited to one baccalaureate course per academic term on a space available basis.
- Approval for concurrent enrollment is valid for only the one term specified and subject to space availability, deadlines, registration procedures, and priorities of CSUB. You must reapply for each term you wish to concurrently enroll in.
- Students who were formerly enrolled at CSUB, but were academically disqualified, are not eligible to participate in the concurrent enrollment program.
- Completion of course prerequisite(s) must be completed prior to enrollment in the class and evidence provided via transcripts.
Fees/Financial Aid
- You will be required to pay any course fees as required of other students (ID card, lab fees, material fees, breakage, computer usage, transcripts, etc.).
- Financial aid is available only through the home campus. Students eligible for Veterans, Rehabilitation, Social Security and other federal, state, or county benefits must secure eligibility certification through home campus.
- You are responsible for CSUB parking fees and regulations. CSUB parking permits are available at the Cashiering Office on a semester or daily basis.

- Must be pursuing a degree in a declared STEM major offered in the CSUB School of Natural Science, Mathematics and Engineering (Nursing major students are excluded)
- A California resident

- Records of credits earned through concurrent enrollment are maintained by CSUB. Students may request official transcripts be sent to home campus for a fee.
- I understand the CSUB course that I enroll in becomes part of my permanent transcript. CSUB credits are generally transferable to other higher-learning institutions. I am responsible for checking with other institutions to ensure CSUB course is transferable and how it may apply to my chosen program.
- Students who wish to drop a course after instruction begins must follow the drop procedures and policies of CSUB. You must complete and submit an official drop slip by the schedule adjustment drop deadline or risk having an unsatisfactory grade recorded on your transcript.
Application
We will begin accepting applications for Fall 2024 enrollment August 1st. The following items will need to be submitted with the application:
- Unofficial transcripts showing requirements are meet
- Class schedule for the term in which you are trying to enroll
