History
The MIS club of California State University was founded by
professor Bidgoli and a group of students in fall 1983. This
was in parallel with the establishment of the MIS concentration
program within the school of business and public administration.
For several years the club operated under the DSS name. In 2002,
students decided to change the club name from DSS to MIS in
order to better reflect its operations.
The club now in its 25 years of operation has been one of the
most active and successful students clubs on campus. Throughout
its history the club has invited numerous speakers locally;
from around the states and even one international speaker .The
club has been very successful in creating a network among the
students and professionals in the field. Many students have
been offered jobs through the network created by the club. The
club has also conducted a couple of successful fund raising
and many social events.
We have former and current members working for major public
and private organizations; they include Kern County (one of
the biggest), Occidental Petroleum, Chevron, Texaco, State Farm,
Bank of America, and CSUB.
Since 1983 the MIS Club has continued to provide activities
related to the fields of Information Technology. This Quarter
the MIS Club has coordinated many events that would interest
students of any major, and we invite all to see what we have
to offer.
