Career Beginnings

Promoting Success through Work Experience

Career Beginnings engages the entire community in a group effort to help Kern County students overcome their educational and social deficiencies through interactions with the college environment and the professional world.

Career Beginnings brings together key agencies, high schools, businesses, non-profit agencies and local colleges in working partnerships to provide students with:

  • College and career preparation
  • Summer work/study experience
  • School-year work experience
  • Special academic tutoring, counseling and supportive services
  • Individual guidance from adult mentors in the business and professional communities

Our mission is to increase the likelihood that low-income and other disadvantaged students will remain in school, graduate from high school, and either go to college or obtain employment with a career focus.

Career Beginnings is funded by the Kern County Employers’ Training Resource and administered by CSU Bakersfield.
