The Payroll Office serves as the hiring site for Student Assistant and Work Study employees. Faculty, staff and administrators are hired through the Office of Human Resources). The payroll technicians provide payroll information and processing assistance to department heads, attendance clerks and employees regarding such matters as final settlement payments, pay docks, disability programs, W-2 questions and assistance with interpretation of different pay calendars (academic year, 10/12, 11/12 pay plans). The payroll technicians are responsible for selecting interpretations from authorities on the proper processing of payroll documents and appropriately applying the information found in CSU and SCO policies and guidelines, federal and state laws, education codes, and collective bargaining agreements to documents used by the CSU/SCO payroll system to generate pay. The Payroll Manager works closely with the academic Provost staff and the Human Resources Director when setting policy and implementing CO and SCO changes. Semi-annual training is offered by the payroll technicians to keep attendance keepers updated on new policies, procedures or forms developed for use in attendance record keeping. The payroll technicians also offer “one-on-one” training for new attendance keepers as needed. |
