Welcome to the School of Social Sciences and Education (SS&E) at California State University, Bakersfield! I hope you will spend some time on this website exploring many of the exciting programs we offer through the 8 departments in our School. The 100 excellent staff and faculty in SS&E are dedicated to preparing professionals who will make a difference in our community and region. Committed to principles of engagement, equity, diversity, and quality, faculty strive to bring innovative curricula into the classroom to instill in our students an interest in life-long learning and dedication to "making a difference".
The School of Social Sciences and Education offers programs designed to prepare students to become skilled professional practitioners in counseling specialites, educational leadership, teacher education, special education, and social work. We also serve as pathways to a variety of professions in criminal justice, law, psychology-related fields, national/state/local politics, international relations, non-profit organizations, community colleges, health and medical professions, and government agencies. We partner with students to assist them in reaching their full potential so that graduates will assume leadership roles focused on improving the quality of life of our children, youth, adults, and older adults.
