CSUB Kegley Institute Presents "Human Rights in China"

March 23, 2010 The CSUB Kegley Institute of Ethics is proud to present the 24th Annual Charles W. Kegley Memorial Lecture on "Human Rights in China." The lecture features Dr. Jianli Yang, renowned China democracy activist. The event will be held at CSUB Doré Theatre on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

Dr. Yang is frequently consulted by national media for his views, Dr. Yang has spoken to audiences around the world concerning democracy in China, including engagements at Harvard University, Soochow University (Taiwan), and Yale University. He is at the forefront of the Chinese Democracy Movement as President of the Foundation for China in the 21st Century and Founder of the Independent Federation of Chinese Students and Scholars. Dr. Yang has testified on several occasions before the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives on human rights in China. He is editor-in-chief of the China in the 21st Century series. Dr. Yang was protesting in Tiananmen Square when the massacre took place. His involvement in the cause put him on a list of 48 leaders banned from China by the Chinese government. Dr. Yang holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from UC Berkley and a Ph.D. from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

This Kegley Institute Lecture is free and open to the public as it is co-sponsored by Mercy Hospitals of Bakersfield with additional funding from Kern Schools Federal Credit Union and The Bakersfield Californian.
