
January 4, 2010 - California State University, Bakersfield's 60+ Club and the Bakersfield Rose Society are teaming up to teach rose gardening tips on Saturday, Jan. 9, at 9 a.m. in the CSUB Walter Stiern Rose Garden. The event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome.
The group will be tending to the roses and providing a demonstration about caring for the flowers in preparation for spring growth.
The Walter Stiern Rose Garden is located north of the Doré Theatre and Todd Madigan Gallery on campus. Parking in Lot B will be free. Please bring gloves and gardening tools to participate.
The 60+ Club was founded in 1986 as a service club for the university. The club is a partnership between the university and the community of retired persons, and is comprised of persons from all walks of life who are concerned citizens, active, curious and wish to pursue lifelong learning. The 60+ Club is for anyone 60 years of age and older or retired. The club holds meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. and has 14 interest groups and eight volunteer groups.
