January 7, 2010 - Do you think you already pay enough in income taxes? Not everyone thinks so.
Michael Davis, senior fellow at the Center for Study of Ethics in the Professions, Illinois Institute of Technology, will share his thoughts on the topic at a special lecture hosted by California State University, Bakersfield's Kegley Institute of Ethics on Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7:00 p.m. in the CSUB Student Union multipurpose room.
Davis will present the provocative argument, "Why you have a duty to pay even higher income taxes." Davis is a leading figure in the study of professional ethics and has published more than 120 articles (and chapters) and authored seven books.
"The topic and Dr. Davis' view is made all the more provocative as California continues to face record deficit numbers," said Christopher Meyers, Kegley Institute director. "It should prove to be a lively discussion and we expect a large crowd, so get there early!"
The Kegley Institute of Ethics strives to stimulate thought and involvement in the community through examination of timely topics and ethical issues relevant to all segments of society. The Institute is widely viewed as the premier area resource on ethical issues.
The lecture is free and open to the public. Parking is free after 6:30 p.m. in lots A, K and L.
