
January 28, 2010 - California State University, Bakersfield is pleased to be partnering again this year with the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce and Kern Economic Development Corporation to present the 10th Annual Kern County Economic Summit. The event will be held March 24, from 7 a.m. - noon at the Doubletree Hotel in Bakersfield.
Known as the premiere economic conference in the Central Valley, the dynamic half-day program will explore the county's economic conditions and issues influencing its growth and diversification. Attendees will be treated to commentary and analysis from Abbas Grammy, professor of economics at CSUB; Eugenio J. Alemán, vice president and senior economist for Wells Fargo & Company; and Nancy Sidhu, vice president and chief economist for the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation.
Additionally, Kirk Hawkins, president of Icon Aircraft, and Stuart Witt, general manager of Mojave Air and Space Port, will highlight the exciting growth of the East Kern County aerospace and commercial air industries.
Noted business economist, Peter Navarro, will deliver this year's keynote address. A well-known speaker and author, Navarro will focus on forecasting the U.S. and global economy, including discussion of money management and business strategies during challenging economic times. He will teach attendees how to be their own economic forecasters, as presented in one of his most recent books, "Always a Winner." Navarro is very familiar with the state of California and its economic environment, as he is a professor of economics and public policy at University of California, Irvine.
The conference is $100 per person.
