Saturday, Aug. 14 marks the second installment of Fight For Wrestling live from the Icardo Center on the campus of California State University, Bakersfield. In an epic battle to keep collegiate wrestling alive in Bakersfield, the Fight for Wrestling team who promoted the first event last month at Cal Poly, is at it again. Fight for Wrestling was conceptualized by MMA Promoter and Matchmaker Scott Adams to assist the Cal Poly Wrestling program from being eliminated like so many other programs. Fight for Wrestling Bakersfield is an event to do exactly the same for the Roadrunners.
All proceeds will go directly to the CSU Bakersfield Athletic department earmarked for the Wrestling program. This event will feature some of California's best up and coming fighters in an action-packed night of MMA bouts that will leave the fans excited to help the cause.
CSUB alum and former wrestler Brian "The Bandit" Cobb (15-6) will face off against Jon "The King of Late Night" Carson (9-2) in the main event. Stact House veteran Jesse Bowen (7-4) from Merced looks to test his skills against Nor Cal Fight Factory's crafty journeyman Alvin Cacdac (8-6) of San Jose, Calif. Bakersfield's own Doug Hunt (8-3) looks to make it five in a row against "FFW- Cal Poly" main event winner Cruz Gomez (14-8). Doors open at 5:00 p.m. The first fight is at 6:30 p.m.
