Dec. 9, 2010 - California State University, Bakersfield invites the community to a guest performance by the 11th Hour Ensemble of San Francisco as they perform "Alice," an imaginative interpretation of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at CSUB's Doré Theatre. Admission is $10 general, $8 seniors, $5 students, and free for CSUB students. The production is rated PG-13.

According to the company's website, www.11thhourensemble.org, Artistic Director Allison Combs explores physical theatre techniques in her interpretation of "Alice."

"Six actors, with their bodies alone, will create and remix Lewis Carroll's classic 'Wonderland,' bringing to life tidal waves of tears, hookah-equipped mushrooms, wild tea parties and a rabbit hole that extends to the center of the earth. Using a unique combination of theater and dance methods, the show includes Ballet, Jazz, Viewpoints, Suzuki, Noh, and Kyogen influences - attracting theater, dance, and non-traditional arts fans alike," the website reads.

CSUB theatre faculty member Kamala Kruszka suggested bringing the ensemble to CSUB as an opportunity for both students and the community to see this experimental style of theatre. The ensemble will also lead a movement workshop for CSUB theatre students during the day on Jan. 15.
