
April 24, 2009 - California State University, Bakersfield's opera theatre will present an Evening of Opera, Zarzuela and Musical Theatre Scenes, Friday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Doré Theatre.
The performance will include scenes from Pasatieri's "Goose Girl," a children's opera; Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte"; Arrieta's "Domino Azul," a zarzuela performed in Spanish with subtitles; Puccini's "La Boheme"; Menotti's "The Medium"; Loesser's "The Most Happy Fella"; and a finale from Mamma Mia. All scenes are fully staged and all but the zarzuela are performed in English.
Peggy Sears, CSUB music professor, will narrate, direct and stage the performance. Roger Upton will design the costumes, Ray Finnell will provide lighting and scene design, and Rachel Chao will be the pianist.
Tickets will be available at the door. General admission is $10, faculty, staff and seniors $8 and students $6.
