Application deadline for 'CSUB Idol' extended to April 15

April 13, 2009 - Due to popular demand, the entry deadline to audition for "CSUB Idol," a local take on Fox's popular television singing competition, has been extended through Wednesday, April 15 at 5 p.m. The contest is open to solo vocal acts only.

The preliminary round of competition will take place on Saturday, April 18 beginning at 9 a.m. in the California State University, Bakersfield music building, room 127. The top 10 acts will perform in the final competition on Saturday, April 25 during Celebrate CSUB! The winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize and studio recording time donated by Jesus Shack.

More than 2,000 visitors are expected to attend Celebrate CSUB!, a university-wide open house featuring a daylong series of events. In addition to CSUB Idol, family-friendly activities will include a 5K Fun Run, spring carnival and club faire, children's art projects, freshman and parent orientations, and much more. Plus, this year the blue and gold are going green with events emphasizing sustainability and renewable energy, including earth-friendly exhibitors, a "green" jobs fair and farmer's market featuring locally grown produce.
