
James Meriwether, professor of history at CSU Channel Islands and former faculty member at California State University, Bakersfield, will deliver the first history forum talk of the 2009-10 academic year on Friday, Oct. 2 at 3:30 p.m. in the Albertson Room on the CSUB campus.
The presentation, titled "It's Not a War: Three Elections,Two Obamas, One Fulbright," will discuss Meriwether's recent article in the Journal of American History on the African Airlifts, the 1960 presidential election between John Kennedy and Richard Nixon and his other research projects in Kenya. Meriwether will also discuss his own experiences with the 2007 Kenyan presidential elections while he was lecturing and researching as a Fulbright scholar at the University of Nairobi.
