
October 5, 2009 - Robert Horton, California State University, Bakersfield geology professor, will be the featured speaker at the San Joaquin Geological Society's monthly dinner meeting on Oct. 13 at the American Legion, 2020 H Street. Horton's topic is titled "Effects of Artificial (Steam-Induced) Diagenesis on Heavy-Oil Production in Miocene-Pleistocene Sands At Kern River Oil Field,California."
"I hope my lecture will provide the local geological community with information that might help with their operations," Horton said. "Additionally, CSUB geology students who attend will see firsthand how the information they receive in class is relevant to the'real' world."
Following a social hour, dinner will begin at 7 p.m. with Horton's lecture at 8 p.m. Reservations for dinner are required and can be mail by e-mailing heidi.hoffower@chevron.com. No reservations are required for the lecture portion of the evening.
