Welcome to the CSUB Chemistry Department!

 

Our chemistry program has several degree options. We offer a B.S. in Chemistry, B.S. in Chemistry with ACS Certification, B.S. in Chemistry with a Concentration in Biochemistry (designed for pre-med and other pre-professional school students), and a B.S. in Chemistry with a Concentration in Management & Marketing. February 22, 2013: The department is looking for tutors and student assistants for spring quarter. Available positions include: ALEKS lab tutoring, CHEM 281 tutoring, CHEM 100 lab and grading support, CHEM 150 lab and grading support, CHEM 212/213 lab and grading support, CHEM 332/333 lab and grading support. To apply for any of these positions, submit the application form (available on the department website) and a copy of your resume to Shaun Tobiasen in the Chemistry Department Office (Science II 273).

 

December 13, 2012: Stanford Summer HCOP is six-week academically intensive residential program that provides a living and learning community for talented college sophomores and juniors who plan to pursue a career in medicine. Selectees will be awarded a scholarship that covers all program expenses including housing, meals, participation fees and materials. The Summer 2013 application cycle begins on Saturday, December 1, 2012 and ends on February 28, 2013. Checkout the website for more information.

 

August 29, 2012: The Chemistry Department at California State University, Bakersfield has obtained a grant to purchase a new NMR! The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded us with $269,594 to purchase the instrument. The new NMR will not only enhance instuction and research in the chemistry department, but throughout Kern county. View the press release for more information.
