Our chemistry program has several degree options. We offer a B.S. in Chemistry, B.S. in Chemistry with ACS Certification, B.S. in Chemistry with a Concentration in Biochemistry (designed for pre-med and other pre-professional school students), and a B.S. in Chemistry with a Concentration in Management & Marketing. May 15, 2012: Save the date!!! The Chemistry Department's Annual End-of-the-Year Party will be Thursday, June 7th at 5:30pm at the Lengthwise Brewery on 6720 Schirra Court. See you there!!!
April 2, 2012: We are currently seeking two full-time chemistry lecturers to start September 1, 2012. Review begins on May 7, 2012 and the positions will remain open until filled. For more details and information on how to apply, view the position advertisement.
March 19, 2012: The department is pleased to announce that we have a new administrative support coordinator, Rachel Russell. Her office is located in Science II 273. Welcome, Rachel!
February 22, 2012: Student Teaching Assistants are needed for the spring 2012 quarter for CHEM 100D, CHEM 150, CHEM 212, and/or CHEM 213. Duties include grading and/or supervision of laboratory sections. If interested, download the application and submit it (along with your resume) to Dr. Andreas Gebauer.
February 10, 2012: Still need something to do for the summer? ACS has developed Get Experience, a free, searchable online database for locating expereince opportunities in chemistry! It contains information on research experiences, internships, co-ops, and other chemistry-related opportunities for undergraduate chemistry students. November 17, 2011: The Chemistry Departmant has won two awards to promote service-learning and community engagement! We received a STEM Engaged Department Institute implementation subgrant of $5,000 from the CSU Chancellor's office as part of the larger Learn and Serve America national effort to increase service-learning opportunities in STEM disciplines and create engaged STEM departments. We were also awarded the $10,000 Innovations in Life Sciences Prize (sponsored by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute) as part of the "Partnering for Excellence: Innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education” competition hosted by Ashoka Changemakers, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and The Opportunity Equation. June 3, 2011: Dr. David Saiki has been named the CSUB Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) Faculty of the Year for 2010-2011. Dr. Saiki received this prestigious award "in recognition of [his] deeds and words that have enriched the lives of students and served as an example to all." Congratulations, Dr. Saiki!!!
