Disabled Employee Assistance
It is the policy of the University to eliminate procedural, psychological and physical barriers, and to accommodate disabilities in the employment of qualified disabled individuals. The University is committed to ensuring the full participation of and providing reasonable accommodation for people with disabilities in all areas of education, employment and campus community activities.

State of California regulations require that special provisions be made to accommodate physically disabled people in public buildings. There are, however, limitations which should be recognized: applicable construction codes apply only to the first floor of multi-storied buildings, and disabled personnel who proceed to upper floors by way of elevators or other powered equipment are doing so on an assumed-risk basis. In the event of a power failure, non-disabled individuals are requested to aid disabled persons in evacuating campus buildings.

Employees with disabilities may request adaptive equipment or special services that will assist them in the performance of their duties. Any faculty or staff member with a verifiable impairment is eligible. Requests should be directed to the Office of Human Resources.
