FORMS 1098-T FOR TAX CREDITS

What are the Hope and Lifetime Learning Credits? The Hope Scholarship and Lifetime Learning Credits are education expense tax credits which were offered for the first time in tax year 1998. They may potentially apply to any student registered in higher education during the calendar year. IRS Form 1098-T (Tuition Payments Statement) provides information from educational institutions to students which may be of use in determining a student's eligibility for these tax credits and the extent of the credit claimed. CSU,Bakersfield provides Forms 1098-T to its students through a third-party contractor, NCS. The forms are mailed to students in late January.
