Objectives:      This course provides a comprehensive coverage of some of the most recent topics, concepts, issues and applications of information systems.  It examines MIS, DSS, EIS, GSS, GIS, AI, E-commerce applications and technologies and their roles for effective decision-making.  Building e-businesses from ground up will be explored. Students will carry out a comprehensive research project in one of the topics outlined by the instructor. They also work as a team to design and implement an e-business from requirement analysis to establishing a Web presence.

 


Learning Objectives:

 

·         To understand the architectures, capabilities and limitations of management support and Web-based systems.

 

·         To be able to gain an in depth knowledge of decision making capabilities of decision support and executive information systems.

 

·         To be able to gain an in depth knowledge of architecture and decision making capabilities of geographic information systems.

 

·         To be able to gain an in depth knowledge of architecture and decision making capabilities of Web-based and e-commerce systems.

 

·         To be able to put together a business plan and outline the implementation issues for a Web-based system.

You need to cover 4 items: The size of the paper must be 15+ pages.

1)         Statement of the problem? What is this purposed business all about?

2)         Financial analysis including 3-5 years of cash follows? Total expected costs and revenues.

3)         Marketing plan. How are you getting the word out? Traditional and Web marketing strategies.

4)         Implementation plan including your sample website.
