Coursework for the Single Subject Credential

The SB 2042 Single Subject Credential Program is a CAEP and CCTC approved professional preparation program. It specifically prepares individuals to teach at the junior high and high school levels. Candidates are prepared to meet the academic needs of English Learners through our English Language Development Component (AB 1059). Courses are offered in the late afternoon, early evenings, and online. The program can be completed in two years.

The three semester program is the recommended path which is outlined below. If you wish to complete your program in two or four semesters, please make an appointment with an advisor.

  • EDTE 4350 (3) TPA Cycle One*
  • EDSE 5800 (4) Single Subject Credential Clinical Practice
    • (required to enroll each semester until EDSE 5810) 
        OR
  • EDTE 5800 (6) Intern/Resident Clinical Practice
    • (Interns are required to enroll each semester until EDTE 5810)

Stage II

  • EDSE 5400 (4) Educational Psychology (online)
  • EDSE 5300 (4) Literacy Across the Curriculum
  • EDTE 4360 (3) TPA Cycle Two*
  • EDSE 5810 (8) Single Subject Final Clinical Practice (Student Teaching)
         OR
  • EDTE 5810 (8) Intern/Resident Final Clinical Practice

Total Units: 50-52
