The Sociology Department, in conjunction with the Center for Community Engagement and Career Education, offer a number of internship opportunities for our Human Service concentration majors. These experiences provide students with important experiential learning and networking opportunities. Sociology students completing the Human Services concentration are required to complete an internship. We recommend that all sociology majors consider completing an internship prior to graduating.
- Hours of internship service are flexible and are negotiated with your internship Supervisor.
- Students have interned with many organizations including The Boys and Girls Club, United Farm Workers, Reach 4 Greatness Mentoring, Kern Adult Literacy Council, Independent Living Center of Kern County, Bakersfield Police Activities League, Mary Kay Shell Mental Health Center, and the Bakersfield Homeless Center.
- Some of our interns have received job offers after completing their service!
