The Student Recreation Center's Mission is to provide optimal service in a safe and fun environment for the CSUB community to achieve physical and mental well-being, personal development, and life-long learning. Personal Training is a highly individualized approach to improving and maintaining one's health and fitness goals.

Our Program

Personal training services are offered at CSUB’s Student Recreation Center. Our trainers work one-on-one with clients to help them meet their individual fitness needs. Buddy Training is also available and can accommodate up to 2 people during one session.

Our Personal Trainers will work with you on goal setting to make your workout experience effective, safe, and fun. It is our aim to educate and engage members of the SRC community through improved fitness and health, and to give you the tools you need to live a more fit lifestyle.

*We are now accepting online payments!

How to sign up for Training

Personal training packages may be purchased through the SRC Front Desk using cash or credit card. After purchase, the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator or Student Manager of Fitness will be in contact to pair you with a Personal Trainer on staff. Following this, communication will occur directly with the trainer to set up the initial session and when scheduling dates/times for subsequent sessions.

Note: Packages may be purchased by all-access AND limited-access members.

What’s included in a Personal Training Package?

An in-depth fitness assessment will be included as an additional session for each initial Personal Training package. Fitness Assessments encompass a variety of tests to address the health-related fitness components such as cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Assessments will consist of measurements and exercise calculations to determine your baseline fitness level. This information will help your Personal Trainer design a workout program that is right for you and your goals.

Additional Information:

-Session are 60 minutes in length

-Based on goals established, training sessions may focus on any of the health-related components of fitness: cardiorespiratory, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition or skill-related components of fitness: agility, balance, coordination, reaction time, speed, and power.

Quick Fitness Assessments

Throughout the semester, Personal Trainers will be seated near the Fit Floor to provide fitness education information for participants. This is in an effort to increase the knowledge of our participants in order to maintain health and safety while working out. During this time, participants may request a “Quick Fitness Assessment” at no charge. This short session will consist of a basic Fitness Assessment including body composition analysis and information about goal setting. Participants will be offered a workout template and an equipment orientation to help guide them while working out at the SRC. Trainers will also be accessible to answer questions about the Personal Training package options.
