KEYNOTE SPEAKER:  David Magnus (Stanford University).

The 13th annual CSUB Philosophy & Religious Studies Undergraduate Conference will be held Saturday, April 22th, 2017, on the campus of California State University, Bakersfield.  The conference provides a forum for the presentation of work by undergraduates in all areas of philosophical and religious studies.  Papers should be approximately 3,000 words (10-12 pages) and submitted electronically to Nate Olson, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, nolson@csub.edu.

Submission deadline is March 24, 2017.   Final decisions will be made by April 3rd.

    Keynote address                                       5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

This year's keynote speaker is David Magnus, Director of the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Thomas A. Raffin Professor in Medicine and Biomedical Ethics at Stanford University. Professor Magnus has published on a wide range of topics in bioethics, including end-of-life issues, genetic and reproductive technologies, and research ethics. He is co-chair of the Stanford Health Center Ethics Committee and editor-in-chief of The American Journal of Bioethics.
