2020 Admissions Requirements

To be considered for admission, a prospective student must submit a complete application with all required documentation during the application period.  All candidates are screened based on a qualitative assessment of academic skills, experience, and references by the admissions committee.  Some restrictions apply; please see the FNP Program Application for additional information.

 Eligibility Requirements 

  1. Be a graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program
  2. Be in good standing at the last college/university attended
  3. Have an overall baccalaureate GPA of at least 3.0
  4. Hold a current registered nurse license from the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), unencumbered, unrestricted, with no disciplinary action pending or imposed.  
  5. Hold a current American Heart Association BLS Cerfication.
  6. Employed full time as an RN for at least two years. 

Preferred Qualifications

Strong Preference will be given to students who: 

  1. Have 3 years of full-time acute care nursing experience in the last 5 years
  2. Reside in the CSUB Service Area
  3. Have previous nursing experience serving underserved and/or rural populations

Timeline

Fall 2020 Applications (You must apply to both CSUB (Cal State Apply) and the Nursing Program (NursingCAS) to be eligible):

Cal State Apply: Oct 1, 2019 - February 1, 2020

NursingCAS: Oct 1, 2019 - March 11, 2020

Notification of admissions decisions:    On or before June 1, 2020
Classes begin: August 2020
Graduation: May 2022
