What is the NSME Pathways community?

The Pathway’s Community program is a group of STEM students placed into learning communities developed to support their academic, personal, and career goals.  Students chosen for the program will be provided with

-Mentoring from experienced students

-Specialized academic advising

-A guaranteed schedule of courses

-Extracurricular team-building activities

-Free book loans

-Extra help with course work

-Weekly supplemental workshops

How do I join?

All first-time-freshman students with a declared degree of Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Human Biology, Math, Physics, and Pre-Nursing are eligible for the program. 

How does the program work?

Students are randomly chosen during the summer prior to the start of the academic year and notified.  Student have the option of opting out of the program at any time.

What happens after the first year?

Students transition to their faculty advisor and are no longer required to attend workshops.  Students are welcome to apply to return as a peer mentor for future Pathway’s Community cohorts following their junior year. 

Who is my advisor?

The Pathway’s Community students have a dedicated advisor by the name of Jeannie Gonzalez that will work with them.

How do I find information on textbooks?

By joining the Pathway’s Community program, several books are rented to you free of charge.  These textbooks will be provided to you at the Pathway’s Orientation (held the week prior to the start of school).   All other course textbook requirements are located on the CSUB Bookstore website (place link here).
