New Investment Center Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

CSU Bakersfield’s School of Business and Public Administration is investing in the next generation of stock traders and financial analysts with the grand opening of the Investment Center, which will feature 12 Bloomberg terminals, the only ones available to the public in Bakersfield. The unveiling is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.

“As a valuable resource for data, the Bloomberg terminals enhance learning and research opportunities across all the business disciplines. Professional stock traders and financial analysts use the same terminals, thus providing a real-world experience for our students. We, at the School of Business and Public Administration, are truly committed to student experiential learning and the career success of our graduates,” says Angappa Gunasekaran, Dean for the School of Business and Public Administration.

The Investment Center will feature 12 Bloomberg terminals and a news ticker that will provide resources and access to real-time financial data for students, faculty and the community. CSUB’s Bloomberg terminals and stock ticker will provide useful information on federal, state and local market and private industry financials to support learning and research.

Information accessible through the terminals includes custom news search, U.S. Stock Market, Mergers and Acquisitions database, corporate news, earnings up and downgrades, earning summaries, economic statistics by country, cross-currency rates, interest rate and bond market information, money-versus-labor rates, mutual fund ratings and more. The news ticker will provide real-time stock information 24 hours a day.

The Investment Center was made possible with the generous support of the University and BPA’s John Brock Committee.
