CSUB Office of Grants, Research and Sponsored Programs To Hold Student Research Oral Competition

The Office of Grants, Research and Sponsored Programs (GRaSP) at California State University, Bakersfield will hold its University-wide Student Research Oral Competition from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, March 9, at the Business Development Center.

The competition promotes excellence and honors those who participate in research and creative activity at the undergraduate and graduate levels by recognizing outstanding student accomplishments at the University.

Attendees can expect a wide range of research projects at the competition, including biology, chemistry, psychology, mathematics, geology, kinesiology, health care management, modern languages and literature, and educational leadership.

“The SRC competition will feature the best and brightest minds of CSUB,” said Director of Sponsored Programs Development Vincent Oragwam. “Student research involvement and learning plays a vital role in the mission of GRaSP.”

Research conducted by students promotes engagement, develops academic performance and transforms a student’s educational growth. Through participating in research, students collaborate with faculty mentors in developing research knowledge, skills and abilities.

The competition offers students a unique opportunity to present their research results to judges and attendees and compete for prizes.

The research presented should be appropriate to the student’s discipline, and/or career goals.  Presentations from all disciplines are invited. Undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled at any CSU campus, as well as any alumni/alumnae who received their degrees in spring, summer or fall 2017, are eligible.

Winners from the Student Research Competition will move on to represent CSU Bakersfield at the CSU statewide Student Research Competition on Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5, 2018 at California State University, Sacramento.
