CSUB Alumni Association to Announce 2018 Hall of Fame Inductees

The California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) Alumni Association will announce its 2018 Alumni Hall of Fame inductees at a press conference, to be followed by a reception, from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the Dezember Reading Room of the Walter W. Stiern Library on the university campus.

The inductees will be available for interviews after the press conference.

The selection process started with nominations from CSUB faculty, staff, alumni and other community members. To qualify, nominees must have:

  •   Received an earned or honorary degree from CSUB five or more years prior to selection;

  •   Shown a proven track record of success in their careers;

  •   Had a history of positive contributions to the community and previous recognition

    through awards; and

  •   Displayed support for higher education, including involvement with CSUB.

A committee of university representatives and CSUB Alumni Association board members selected the inductees.

This will mark the 12th annual CSUB Alumni Hall of Fame. This year’s induction ceremony will

be particularly poignant as it’s the last under CSUB President Horace Mitchell, who with the Alumni Association board created the program. Dr. Mitchell is retiring at the end of the 2017-18 academic year, June 30, 2018.

The induction ceremony will be held Feb. 16, 2018, at the Bakersfield Country Club.
