New Appointment of Vice President for University Advancement

After an extensive national search, California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) is proud to announce the appointment of Victor Martin, Vice President for University Advancement, effective December 1, 2016. Martin has been serving as the Interim Vice President for University Advancement and Interim Executive Director of the CSUB Foundation since February 12, 2016. Prior to his interim role, he served as Associate Vice President for Development from October 2015 to February 2016 and Director of Development from June 2013 to October 2015.

“We had an outstanding pool of candidates for the position of Vice President for University Advancement at CSUB. I am very pleased that Victor Martin has accepted my offer of appointment to serve in that role and am confident that he will be outstanding,” said CSUB President, Horace Mitchell.

Martin brings to the position a decade of experience in campaign management and fundraising. Throughout his career, he has played a key role on teams that have raised more than $300 million, including his work at CSUB. In his permanent role, he will serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet with direct responsibility for the University’s advancement division, including alumni engagement; community and governmental relations; fundraising and development operations; and public affairs and communications. As the Executive Director of the CSUB Foundation, Martin will work directly with its board of directors in supporting its fundraising and advocacy efforts.

Martin holds an MBA and BA from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He is a member of the boards of directors of the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Institute for Religion, Education and Public Policy. He has served as a member of the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce Installation Committee; the American Cancer Society Gala Committee; and the Bakersfield Jazz Festival Committee. Martin is a proud father of two children, Maya, 5 and Maluk, 3, and resides in northeast Bakersfield.
